Foreign TV channels stopped broadcasting in Bangladesh

The broadcasting of foreign television channels is closed in Bangladesh. The broadcasting of these channels has been stopped since night, the concerned said. Foreign channels will not be able to broadcast any advertisements with their original content - only the operators have taken such a decision due to such instructions from the government.

The decision to stop broadcasting was made solely by the operators, arguing that broadcasting on foreign television channels was not possible without advertising. As a result, no foreign channel has been seen in the country since last night.

In this regard, SM Anwar Parvez, Founder President of the Operators Association of Bangladesh, said that at the moment, broadcast operators do not want to broadcast without ads on foreign channels. In fact, it is not yet time for foreign channels to broadcast without advertisements. As a result, the broadcasting of foreign channels has been stopped as per the instructions of the Ministry of Information.

When I went to watch foreign channels last night, I saw a message on the television screen. It is written there to kindly inform the customers that as per the instructions of the government, no foreign channel with advertisements can be broadcast from October 1. So I am being forced to refrain from broadcasting foreign channels until further notice.

Only operators in different areas are giving the same message as themselves.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud made the remarks after a meeting with representatives of Cable Operators Association, Atco, Foreign Channel Distributors, Akash DTH, and Commerce Ministry at the Secretariat on September 2.

In response t a question from reporters at a meeting in the meeting room of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Thursday afternoon. Hasan Mahmud said a mobile court would be set up from Friday (October 1) to implement clean-feed broadcasts of foreign channels in the country as per the law.

Information and Broadcasting Minister. Hasan Mahmud said, "From October 1, we will run mobile courts across the country." If the clean feed is not shown on any foreign channel and the Ministry, Television Owners Association, and Cable Operator tripartite meeting of the televisions to broadcast on the cable line deviated from the schedule, or a cable operator violating the law to show ads, action will be taken from tomorrow.

He also said that in case of any other violation of the law, the distributors and cable operators allowed to downlink the channel would be held liable for violating the law and action would be taken accordingly.
